Introduction

During my internship at EY, I had the opportunity to contribute to both the design and development teams. In the design team, I collaborated on projects involving user research, prototyping, and interface design using tools like Adobe XD and Sketch. Transitioning to the development team for the TTT project, I focused on front-end development, gaining hands-on experience with technologies such as Springboot and AngularJS. This experience not only broadened my skills but also reinforced my passion for creating seamless and user-centric digital solutions.

What I did

Throughout my internship, my primary focus was understanding the challenges faced by job seekers and designing an intuitive portal to simplify the job application process. I delved into user research to uncover pain points and preferences, which informed the initial design concepts.

Collaborating closely with the development team, I translated these concepts into functional prototypes using tools like Adobe XD and Sketch. This collaborative effort allowed us to iterate on the design based on feedback from usability tests and stakeholder reviews.

As the project progressed, I continued to refine the user interface and user experience, ensuring the portal was not only visually appealing but also highly functional and responsive. Collaborating closely with frontend developers using technologies such as Springboot and AngularJS, I translated these designs into functional prototypes

Throughout the project, I learned how to effectively communicate design concepts to developers and iterate designs based on technical constraints and user feedback.

What I learned

Being Proactive in Collaboration:

I learned the power of proactive engagement with teammates and stakeholders. Regular 1:1s and seeking feedback were pivotal in refining my designs and improving collaboration across teams. This openness to dialogue not only enriched my learning experience but also fostered a supportive work environment.

End-to-End Design Expertise:

Initially focused on tools like Adobe XD and Sketch, I quickly realized that effective design goes beyond software proficiency. From ideation and user research to refining designs through iterative feedback loops, I embraced the full spectrum of the design process. This holistic approach empowered me to create solutions that resonate with users while meeting technical requirements.

User-Centric Design Principles:

Transitioning from a user perspective as a consumer to understanding the needs of driver partners underscored the importance of empathy in design. By immersing myself in their experiences, I gained insights that informed intuitive interface designs aimed at enhancing usability and satisfaction.
